Take a walk with me!

If you have followed this blog you know that I like to get my sweat on, outside, at the ass-crack of dawn.  I have learned through the years that if I don't get it done before I begin my day it doesn't get done.  I have tried working out in the evening and it was always too easy to come up with excuses and it rarely got done.

And if you follow me on Instagram, (I'm @lgotx if ya don't and ya wanna) you know that I like to post pictures of the morning sky as the sunrises.

Today, you get to join me on a morning walk! (calm down there!)  Actually not today, this was previously recorded.

Because of the time change and the season change and whatever, the sunrise has not been an easy thing for me to catch lately.  It would rise either too late, after I was already home from my walk, or too early and it is rising in a different part of the sky so my usual spots no longer work and my new spots are few and far between.  Lately I've been catching a few and after the winter solstice thing, I should be catching more.

Here we go!

OK, I'm up and out and barely awake at 6:45 am.  A little late to be sure I am in a good spot to see some pretty sky but, who knows, I might get lucky.  I get to the top of a street at 6:53 (above) and gasp out loud!  The show is starting and is going to be a good one!  I must hurry to the next photo op spot!

6:57-the top of another street with a view of the sunrise.  gasp! It's getting better!  I'm quite a ways from the next photo op spot and the sunrise time is 7:00!  On days like this I usually get a pretty good workout as I am in a hurry to get to the next spot before the show is over!  Gotta hurry!

7:05-oh look!  There's a bunch of birds sitting on those wires!  I love birds on wires!  I'll just cross the street and take a picture of that, lemme check the sky, eh, nothing to see here.

7:17-oh yeah, I better look over my shoulder and check out the show, almost forgot.  The bottom of this street is a good spot for sunrise watching in the summer but now the sun is rising too far south and the trees get in the way.  This is pretty. Except for the streetlight.  And the cars. And the street.  Keep going.

7:21-oh look! a fire hydrant!  That's a good place to put my phone for a sidewalk selfie!  What should I do? walk toward the hydrant? walk away from the hydrant? lean over and peek in? wave? make a face? plank?

7:24-this has become a favorite spot to see the sunrise.  It's on the golf course, it's a little hill near the green.  I have to walk behind a couple of houses and on the golf course to get there.  I've gotten a few really pretty sunrise shots here but today is just so-so.  And if the head grounds keeper sees me I'm in a load of trouble!  Better get the shot and get going.  Oh, look!  One of the neighbors is sitting out back!  Hi! Don't mind me!  I'm just trespassing and gotta go!

7:29-this is the last spot I will have a chance to see the sunrise on my walk and by now the sun is getting higher above the horizon.  The rest of the way is very dense with trees and kinda low.  At least the sun is peeking out for me.  I like the light in the clouds at the top, pretty neat.

7:34-oh look! There's a spot where I can prop up my phone for another selfie!  And-BONUS! there's a rock I can jump off of!  Cool!  A jump shot!  OK, no one around, no cars coming, let's do this thing!  EPIC FAIL!  Move along.  Maybe next time.  I don't jump well.  I'm too grounded to the ground. (extra credit if you recognize that little quote)  But my hair looks neat.  Maybe I can use that in some kind of blended image. Maybe with those birds!  hmmm.

7:45-back home.  No picture for that.  I know you're disappointed!

It always amazes me how brilliant the sky can be!  And how quickly it changes.  The clouds in the sky were pretty too.

That's it.  An hour in my morning.  Aren't you glad you came along?

Gotta go.  Time for a shower and brekkie then my day begins!

(The selfies and birds were taken with camera+ and the others with 6X6.  Notice the difference in the color of the sky?  Same phone, different app.  Things that make me go hmmm.)
