Only for 48 hours

This was the first time I ever drank something that was green and it wasn't beer and it wasn't on St. Patricks day.

It wasn't bad.

It wasn't great.

This weekend, my DD and I embarked on a 48-hour cleanse.  The Dr. Oz 48-hour cleanse.  Seemed like a good idea to me. I could do anything for 48 hours.

I thought it would be good to get all those antioxidants.

I looked at the menu and shopping list.  Everything on it was something I was familiar with. It was all really good food. Yeah, I could totally do this!

Oh, but there was the matter of needing a juicer if you wanted to make the detox drink with kale, otherwise it was pomegranate juice and a blender. My DD bought a juicer for us to use! yay! kitchen gadgets!

So I cooked all the soup, together we juiced all the fruits and veggies and we were good to go.

Day 1-neither of us was a big fan of the quinoa brekkie, but we got through it. It did manage to keep us filled up for quite a while. We both had a detox drink before lunch. That is the green drink. Palatable. I did not care for the kale in it actually and probably would prefer the pomegranate drink.

Lunch was a smoothie. We both liked it.

Another detox drink and some veggies for afternoon snacks. We were both wanting something else to eat, DD thought her baby's cookies were looking good and I had to get of Pinterest because pictures of food kept popping up!

Dinner was the veggie soup, which was good, and a side of sauerkraut and apples. I like sauerkraut but only with sausage. I was not a fan of this side dish.

Water, water, water. And I did have my morning coffee.

By bedtime, I needed a little something and decided on a glass of rice milk.

Day 2-after my morning walk, I only had time to get ready for church so brekkie was a cup of coffee. (sorry quinoa! you're no oatmeal!) Then after church, my 5 yo granddaughter wanted to go to Red Lobster. How could I say no?

Well, you can guess what happened next.

So, what did I learn from all this? I learned that the Jack LaLanne juicer is the bomb!

Have you ever tried a cleanse?

I have never done a cleanse but have many many friends who have. I'm not sure anyone made it all the way through though. Pinterest is deadly even if you're simply hungry never mind cleanse-starving!
